Cinema Studio

Direct, generate and cut your film in one studio. Cut clips on a timeline, generate missing shots in place, set direction per shot, and export an MP4.

Overview

A Cinema Studio tab is a timeline with a preview above it. Cut your Flow shots into a film, generate missing shots in place, and export an MP4.

Cinema Studio is on paid plans. On the Free plan it shows a lock in the New tab menu. Visitors on a public project link do not see Cinema Studio tabs.

Add a Cinema Studio tab

  1. Click New tab, the + at the end of the tab bar.
  2. Choose Cinema Studio.

The sidebar has four sections: Assets, Generate, Renders and Comments.

Build the cut

  • Drag clips from Assets onto a track, or select one and use Add at playhead.
  • Drag a clip's edges to trim it (Trim start, Trim end).
  • Press B for the razor and click a clip to cut it there. V or Esc puts it away. S splits the selected clip at the playhead.
  • Hover a cut and click + (Add a transition): Crossfade, Dip to black, Dip to white, Slide, Push, Wipe or Zoom.
  • Add in the toolbar adds a shot, image or sound, a title (Headline, Subtitle, Lower third, Chapter, End card) or a new track (Video, Image, Titles, Music or Voice).
  • Select a clip to change it on the right. Speed sets how fast it plays and Reverse plays it backwards.
  • Drag a track's header to reorder tracks. Each track can be hidden, muted, soloed, locked or removed (empty it first). A voice track lowers other sound under it.
  • Turn on loop to play round, or to loop the In to Out range.

Right-click a clip for Generate or Regenerate (shots), Duplicate (⌘D), Split at playhead (S), Copy, Cut, Group (⌘G), Ungroup, Detach audio, Delete and Ripple delete (⇧⌫, deletes and closes the gap).

Useful keys: J, K, L shuttle back, pause and forward. I and O set In and Out, ⌥X clears them. M adds a marker at the playhead. F shows the preview full screen. ← and → move one frame (⇧ for one second). ⌘Z undoes.

Generate shots

Add a shot, image or sound from Add or from a track's +. Generate opens with its prompt ready for that slot.

  1. Pick Image, Video or Audio.
  2. Describe the frame, the shot or the sound. For video you can add a Start frame, an End frame and references.
  3. Press Send (or Send ×N for several takes).

The result fills the slot. Every take is kept: pick the one the cut shows in the clip's panel. In the Generate results, Make video turns a still into a video with it as the start frame, Add to timeline places a result, and Use as reference adds it to the prompt.

Direction

The Direction panel sets camera and shot choices. Project defaults apply to every shot; This shot overrides them for the selected one. Search presets with /.

Turn on Director and it writes each shot's prompt from your direction. The director is charged as a small line of its own in project costs, once per run; a director that fails is not charged. Without it, your choices are added to the prompt at no extra cost.

Sequence settings in the top bar sets the frame and frame rate every shot is made for, and the director, choices and cast for the whole sequence.

Export

  1. Click Export.
  2. In Export video, set the Name, the Part (whole cut, or In to Out), Size (720p, 1080p or 4K), Frame rate and Quality (Draft, Standard or High). The price shows before you export.
  3. The export runs in the background. Its progress shows in Renders, and the notification bell tells you when it is ready.

Renders lists this tab's exports. Select one and press Space to preview it, or use Download and Delete.

Comments

Press C and click the preview to pin a comment on a clip. Each comment also shows as a marker on the ruler; click a marker to jump there. ⇧C opens the list of comments.

Working together

Everyone in the project sees edits and cursors live. Viewers can watch the cut but cannot edit.
